SINGLE REVIEW: Icona Pop – Rhythm In My Blood

Swedish pop is good pop and Icona Pop have always been a duo that have given us some anthemic pop-dance crossovers. Recently they’ve been a little quiet on the release schedule and now they’ve returned with a groovy disco tinged track that will have you feeling the vibes and dancing instantly. ‘Rhythm In My Blood’ hears them citing influences from fellow Scandi, Tove Lo. Everything from their vocal harmonies to the polished synth production gives me serious comparison vibes. But not in a bad way. This is their strongest release in a long time because it is so different and experimental for them. For so long it felt like they were just releasing the same song with different lyrics over and over again because their wasn’t any experimentation or originality occuring. Now they’ve stepped their game up and given you something a little different. The groovy track has a real 80’s feel to it and expands a fresh new perspective. Their vocal harmonies are just as smooth and captivating as ever and you will find yourself yelling “feel the rhythm in my blood” during the chorus.
