SINGLE REVIEW: Robyn – Honey

There is no denying that Robyn is Swedish pop royalty. The singer-songwriter is due to release her highly anticipated eighth studio album on October 26 and to coincide with the announcement she’s dropped the second single and title track. ‘Honey’ is a minimalist pop song that croons through it’s smooth synths. It’s a song that people are going to love or hate because it is so simple and seemingly goes nowhere. But I think this sweet track is actually quite strong. The pulsating synths keep the waves going and will have your foot tapping along as your mind floats in the storyline. She reflects on a relationship that is going no where but there is an undeniably strong sexual infused spark that continues to bring them together “No, you’re not gonna get what you need. But baby, I have what you want. Come get your honey”. The studio album version is a little long in duration but the radio edit is perfect to get that vibe flowing. It may not be for everyone but it’s a slick song that will give you a sweet feeling.
