SINGLE REVIEW: DJ Snake feat. Selena Gomez, Ozuna, Cardi B – Taki Taki

Over hype is a massive killer and DJ Snake’s new track is the newest victim to that trend. ‘Taki Taki’ is an awful latin influenced track that hears the French producer teaming up with Cardi B, Selena Gomez and Ozuna. Taking a leaf out of ‘Despacito’s book, they try to create an international hit with a lot of flavour and colour but instead it just turns out to be a giant mess. Firstly, the lyrics and storyline don’t make sense. They try to explore the idea how love can grow from flirtation and be so much more. But with lyrics both in Spanish and English I don’t think anyone really feels that storyline was delivered greatly. Secondly, the production is annoyingly awful and whilst it does get stuck in your head, it’s not for a good reason. Thirdly, I don’t think any of the artists except Ozuna were highlighted in a great way. Even Cardi B’s rap flatlined and that doesn’t happen often. And lastly, ‘Taki Taki’ isn’t even a real word. So lets just pretend that this isn’t a real song.
