SINGLE REVIEW: Dinah Jane feat. TY Dolla $ign  – Bottled Up

I think we’ve officially been delivered the worst song of the year. Whenever a successful group breaks up to peruse solo careers there is always going to be one hopeful who absolutely bombs. I mean, look at Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson from One Direction, Emma Button from the Spice Girls or Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child… Are their solo careers memorable? The answer is no, and sadly that is the fate of Dinah Jane from Fifth Harmony. Her debut solo single is a car crash to put it politely. ‘Bottled Up’ is a forgettable RNB influenced track that continues the sonical direction of the Fifth Harmony last album. However the production flat lines majorly and doesn’t really go anywhere. The lyrics have potential with a storyline surrounding someone who bottles their feelings up and uses alcohol and drugs to hide them. But the chorus is way too simple. And I mean, not even a guest rap verse from Ty Dolla $ign could save this song and make it somewhat likeable or commercially ready.
