SINGLE REVIEW: The Chainsmokers feat. Kelsea Ballerini

The Chainsmokers have returned to their generic dance-pop sound for their new single that hears them teaming up with Country-pop favourite Kelsea Ballerini. ‘This Feeling’ is a desperate attempt to match the mainstream success of Zedd and Maren Morris’ mega hit ‘The Middle’. While it’s a little predictable this song does have sweet pop verses with a radio friendly dance breakdown. It does cater to the mainstream EDM fans who have a romantic side to the personality as the lyrics are really cute and empowering. “They tell me think with my head, not that thing in my chest. They got their hands at my neck this time but you’re the one that I want, if that’s really so wrong”. It follows a storyline of always listening to your heart and not caring about what anyone else says when it comes to love. The chorus is quite short and feels unfinished. It sounds like it’s missing 2 lines or some harmonies during the dance breakdown. It’s not a bad song, it’s just a little predictable and not as memorable as it’s competition.
