It’s a comeback that more people should be speaking about but Ashlee Simpson is officially back and stronger than ever with her husband by her side. The singer-songwriter dominated the mid 2000’s with her angsty pop-rock which saw her turning heads and receiving heavy radio rotation. It has been 10 years since she released her third studio album ‘Bittersweet World’ so new music is respectfully long overdue but she’s about to change that. Ashlee + Evan is the new musical project that sees her joining forces with her husband Evan Ross (son of Diana Ross) with a sweet and reflective new sound. ‘I Do’ hears the two vocalists harmonising sweetly as well as declaring their love and devotion to each other. “You’re asking me if I love you, I do, I do, I do. You’re asking me if I trust you, I do, I do, I do. I know the world can be broken but it’s okay, I got you”. The single accompanies the premiere of the duo’s reality TV show ‘Evan And Ashlee’ which offers a candid all-access look into their life. And this song perfectly compliments the premise of the show as this is a honest and beautiful tribute to their relationship. It’s a lot more sedued compared to Ashlee’s earlier material but shows a great growth in her vocals and storytelling. This is only the first single from their forthcoming debut album but if this is anything to go by then this album may just be an exciting addition to 2018.
