SINGLE REVIEW: Sam Bluer – Body High
Earlier this year Melbourne newcomer Sam Bluer impressed with his DIY inspired debut single ‘Shift’. The experimental indie-pop meets electronic track heard him delivering a very seductive and unique sound. Melodically he managed to offer a soulful vocal delivery whilst also being seductive and mysterious at the same time. His new single ‘Body High’ hears him stepping further into the pop realm with a radio ready chorus that will have you singing and dancing along instantly. Lyrically he continues the seductive storyline where he reminisces over that euphoric feeling you get inside you when you fall for someone and craving it even though you know that they may not be good for you. “Falling back to our heights, filling in this divide. Only you can get my body high”. The structure of this song is less experimental and hears him delivering a punchy polished chorus along with a pulsating synth delivery that is ultimately groovy. Whilst his vocals are seductive, his delivery also has this very smooth and calming energy about them. His dreamy roots are still intact and sonically fit with the direct ‘Shift’ and his collaboration with Oh Boy headed towards. With each listen ‘Body High’ grows on you and cements Sam Bluer as a name you need to get familiar with. This song is an actual TUNE and the music video is even steamier, so prepare!
