Hailing from New Zealand, Matthew Young has quickly started to build himself a pretty passionate Australian fanbase thanks to the support of Triple J. The alternative pop singer-songwriter kicked off his ‘Fruit EP Tour’ in Brisbane with a packed show at Black Bear Lodge. Being a Thursday night he was really surprised with how many people actually turned up because he joked that in Auckland no one goes out during the week. The crowd sang along to all of the tracks from his EP as well as his moody cover of Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’. But he also surprised the crowd with his funny banter between songs and his vibey guitar solos that made them fall in love with him even more.
