Alice Ivy is no stranger to the Australian touring circuit. The Melbourne singer, songwriter and producer is known to deliver a highly energetic and contagious set full of euphoric vibes. 2018 has seen her release her debut album ‘I’m Dreaming’ and hit the road with The Jungle Giants, Flight Facilities and Vera Blue. That’s three pretty big support roles back to back. I recently witnessed the triple-threat whilst she was opening for Vera Blue for her two sold out Brisbane shows. As soon as she walks on stage she is all about making you dance like no tomorrow whilst also just bouncing and dancing around the stage herself. It’s a lot of cardio. But the whole time during her set she is beaming smiling and couldn’t look like she was having a better time, it’s very contagious. Her 45 min set highlighted her production skills with her bringing her album to life with synths, samples, drums and guitar which she all plays herself. It’s very DIY and very cool. There’s no one else on stage with her which is impressive and she just rocks out. Her set could’ve done with a bit of visual production and a bigger light show to really set the party vibes but she did well at commanding the crowd. Her Bertie Blackman collaboration ‘Chasing Stars’ instantly created a massive singalong and the only thing that could’ve bet that was if she re-enacted her epic Like A Version of ‘American Boy’ on stage. Alice Ivy is dominating the Australian circuit at the moment so expect to see a lot more of her.
