SINGLE REVIEW: Ivy Adara – Currency

At only 23 years old Ivy Adara has an impressive list of songwriting credits under her belt including Jessica Mauboy’s “Fallin” and “When I Met You” as well as the absolute bop “Obsessed” by Maggie Lindemann. But she’s also introduced herself as a solo artist with her debut single “Famous” which delivered a carefree chilled-pop vibe that had you intrigued and wanting more. “Currency” is her killer follow up single which truly has the potential to be the big hit she needs to breakthrough the mainstream pop market. It continues the chilled-pop sound she introduced on “Famous” but takes it to a new level with a bigger hook that would fit perfectly on radio. It has that summer sound that makes you want to roll down your windows and blast it at full volume while singing it at the top of your lungs. The chorus is super catchy and cute that you can’t help but love it and it’s radiating message of positivity and love. “We’re the new currency, making diamonds look cheap. Love is our cash machine, the gold in our hearts that money can’t buy. We’re the new currency”. The production is very polished and shiny and gradually grows from it’s piano and drum beat into this sun soaked full sound. It’s not a ground breaking pop moment but it is a really great pop song that has a lot of heart and will have you instantly gushing over Ivy Adara.
