Last year Calvin Harris went through his funk wav phase which was met to mixed reactions. While the sound was vibey and fresh it did quickly become a little predictable and repetitive. Luckily he’s returning to his EDM roots on his new single “One Kiss” with Dua Lipa. However the song does have a funk injection to it, it’s just not as prominent as his previous material. The playful track hears Dua exploring the idea of people falling in love with her straight away and feeling the same way back. “One kiss is all it takes. Fallin’ in love with me. Possibilities. I look like all you need”. While the lyrics are a little disjointed the flow and vocal delivery serves them perfectly along with the club ready production that gives it a fulfilled sound. This is Calvin’s strongest song in a long time alongside “Feels” which is still a bonafide bop. After a first listen you will want to push replay and vibe along again and again.
