SINGLE REVIEW: MO – Nostalgia
MO’s highly anticipated sophomore album has been a long time coming but we will apparently finally hear it this year. Or so they say. But the Danish songstress has dropped a new single called “Nostalgia” and it sonically sits somewhere in between the dancefloor anthem “Final Song” and the DIY track “When I Was Young”. It opens with the honest lyric “I remember the first time I was in love, it was all the way back in 1997” with a mild dancehall inspired beat. For the verses she offers a spoken vocal delivery which perfectly transitions into the melodic pre chorus where she reflects deeper on that first love. “It was so beautiful, the love we had, the love we had. Can’t believe we let it pass, we let it pass”. For the chorus I was expecting a big dance floor moment but instead it’s a bit more laid back and hears her empathising over heart break. “I know you’re hurting, I know your heart, it aches for someone’s lovin’ but the sun shines when the cloud break”. It’s a cool track that showcases that reflective and emotional side to MO while delivering strong production. She keeps proving that she’s not just a one hit wonder and can do more than just your generic top 10 banger.
