SINGLE REVIEW: James Bay – US

Electric Light

I’m really loving James Bay at the moment. All of his singles have been refreshingly different, emotional and vibey. And his sophomore record “Electric Light” has become one of my most anticipated albums of the year. With the album scheduled for a May 18 release he’s dropped another single to get you feeling all emotional. “Us” is a romantic homage to faith and trust with someone trying to hold on to a burning flame. “Tell me how to be in this world. Tell me how to breathe in and feel no hurt. Tell me now ’cause I believe in something, I believe in us”. The production is quite moody and dark and returns to the gospel meets blues sound his debut record introduced. You can hear the pain and desperation in every lyric in his vocal delivery. It’s less polished and has a grittier feel to it. It’s very anthemic and emotional and will leave you wanting to press replay. This record is shaping up to be very versatile and different and I’m excited.
