E^st’s last single “Life Goes On” was a grower. At first I wasn’t convinced that it had real potential but she proved me wrong with it gaining heavy rotation and becoming a bonafide hit in it’s own right. She has a real knack for storytelling and writing a catchy hook so she has set pretty high standards for herself over time. However her new single “Blowjob” is a little underwhelming. The emotive storytelling is there and so captivating but she loses it as soon as she says the word “Blowjob” because it makes it sound gimmicky or comical where it’s not at all. The song is actually really personal and explores two people trying to figure out what their “relationship” is because they are both wanting two separate things from each other. One wants a relationship and the other just wants them to be around but not have a label or commitment. They both use each other to get their fix but in the end they are both just lonely. This ballad could have been such an emotional and intimate moment but instead it feels gimmicky and it’s a real shame.
