Tinashe’s sophomore record “Joyride” has been a LONG time in the making and after 3 years of tirelessly promoting and finishing this album she’s decided to scrap everything and re-start the promotional process. “No Drama” is the official lead single and hears her offering a RNB production that takes it back to the mellow beat delivery that her debut album revolved around. Filled with attitude and sex appeal this song will become a little sass anthem in it’s own right. But in saying that she is also now competing against the likes of Cardi B and SZA who both provide personality, attitude and emotion in their own unique ways. Maybe Tinashe has left it too long in between records because I don’t know if she can top the strong material those two artists are delivering and thats no shade, that’s just truth. The song is catchy and grows on you with each listen but it’s no “2 On”, “Super Love” or “All Hands On Deck”. But it’s still got a little bit of a groove that will have you dancing seductively in your room, on the streets or in the club. And I must also make note that Offset delivered a strong feature rap that surprisingly didn’t hate, so that’s a first.
