Fall Out Boy promised the reason they delayed their album was because they were focusing on making “Mania” their strongest record yet. But their new promo single “Wilson (Expensive Mistakes)” really has me questioning that statement. This track is easily the weakest promo track from the collection so far and hears them combining their traditional nostalgic sound with an experimental pop production. It just doesn’t really work and is a bit cringe worthy which is disappointing because their last three tracks have actually been very decent. Compared to those tracks it just fails to deliver anything memorable or special. The only good thing to come out of this song is the following lyric; “I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker colour”.
The way they spell “M A N I A” still triggers me.
