Earlier this year Oh Boy delivered the ridiculously catchy and gushingly perfect “Rush Hour” with Brisbane rap favourite Mallrat. The song created a lot of hype for the Sydney based producer and has since seen him playing shows and festivals across the country including a conveted guest performance at Splendour In The Grass. His new single “Love Me Right” hears him embracing a more vulnerable side to his bubblegum EDM goodness. The production holds onto the polished and quirky vibe that made “Rush Hour” and “Bunny Island” stand out but also offers a more mature delivery. With only a couple of songs currently in his discography it’s impressive to note his growth as an artist already. He’s shown quite a versatility as a producer while also boldly showcasing his niche that makes him stand out compared to other EDM producers. Because lets be honest, everyone is making EDM pop music right now but no one is making it like he is. For this song he introduces the world to Melbourne pop newcomer Sam Bluer who takes over the guest vocals. Bluer’s vocals are dreamy and enchanting and have this very playful feel to them during the hook. There’s a couple of moments during the song where he channels a RNB tinged delivery and I was living for those slightly sensual lyrics. He captivates you instantly with his echoing vocals during the first verse right through to the final moments where he pleads to a lover to “love me right”. This is a very experimental song that will instantly have you bopping along and feeling the slightly more vulnerable side that Oh Boy is trying to show.
