SINGLE REVIEW: The Rubens – Million Man

the ruben

The Rubens have become one of Australia’s most loved new alt-rock bands. They just have this captivating energy around them that make their live shows unmissable and their festival sets unforgettable. Their third studio album is slated for an early 2018 release and they’ve just dropped the lead single which sees them teaming up with two Run The Jewels producers/collaborators. “Million Man” returns to the original alternative sound they introduced on “My Gun” and further explores the rhythmic sound they incorporated on “Hoops”. It’s a song that evolves and begins with a simple piano arrangement and finger clicks before buzzing guitars and drums are introduced for the chorus. It gets bolder and stronger throughout the duration as it builds momentum with Sam Margin offering a gospel tinged vocal delivery. There is just this uplifting feeling that the song captures and you can’t help but crack a little smile while listening.
