SINGLE REVIEW: Mansionair – Astronaut (Something About Your Love)

Sydney trio Mansionair have quickly become a band that is worth talking about. Their experimental indie-pop floats in a realm of cinematic perfection and synth layering that makes their sound so unique. Their new single “Astronaut (Something About Your Love)” hears them heading towards a heavier electronic sound that they previously experimented with on “Easier” and “Speak Easy”. Lyrically it’s quite a simple song that looks at the intensity of falling for someone and it holding you down. “Ooh, there’s something about your love. Can you feel it?”. But where they really excel with this song is the production. Beginning with a finger click and pulsating synths the song takes you straight into space with it’s drifting production and atmospheric mood. The hook then delivers this really cool Daft Punk-esq vocal “doo da da’s” which is completely different to anything they’ve done before and it stands out. They premiered this song in September at their Bigsound 2017 showcase and it really did create an exciting new vibe to their live show. I’m intrigued to hear where their next releases will take them sonically because while their roots are in place their experimenting is getting stronger

Mansionair will be touring the east coast of Australia this December for some massive headline shows. Check out the dates;
