SINGLE REVIEW: Kelsea Ballerini – Miss Me More

unapologetically

Forget Taylor Swift’s new album, I don’t think I could be any more excited for Kelsea Ballerini’s sophomore record “Unapologetically” than I apparently am. You could go as far as saying I’m unapologetically excited about it (get it…). Every song in the lead up to this release has introduced a new emotion or unique storytelling to the forefront and has had me falling in love with her each time. She is one of the most promising rising stars and is the next country-pop artist that I could see headlining arenas soon. With two weeks until the albums launch she’s released yet another promotional single and this is the strongest one yet. “Miss Me More” hears her channeling her confidence and attitude that her debut cemented while fusing it with her vulnerable side that we’ve come to know and love. Production wise this song gives me a lot of Carrie Underwood vibes with it’s prominent rock elements and slick synths that elevate the chorus. Lyrically she explores a break up where she doesn’t miss him but instead she misses who she was before the came into her life. It’s a confident and sassy sound that injects an empowerful feeling that is quite important for a post break up track as it’s hard to feel like that when you are heartbroken. “I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings, forgot who I was before I ever kissed you. Yeah, I thought I’d miss you but I miss me more”. It’s just so catchy, kick-ass and leaves you feeling so confident in yourself even if you aren’t currently going through a break up. It’s just one of those anthems that you can’t help but sing along to and her live show is going to explode once it’s included.
