SINGLE REVIEW: Lauv – Easy Love
Lauv is a newcomer that is worth getting excited over. His debut EP ‘Lost In The Light” was an moody affair that introduced a raw vulnerability within his songwriting. His recent single “I Like Me Better” was an upbeat commercial breakthrough that saw him adding an electronic twist to his production. Since then he has collaborated with DJ Snake and announced that he’s supporting Ed Sheeran on the Asia leg of his “Divide Tour”. His new single “Easy Love” returns to his roots with a cinematic twist. The production is moody and simple and then gradually grows with the addition of electronic synths. It’s easily his best release yet. It’s catchy, emotional and shows an impressive growth from his first release. The track looks at being willing to do anything for someone you love and not wanting the easy way out. “I could be somewhere chilling on a beach. I could be with someone making me happy but that would be too easy, love. And I don’t want no easy love”. Lyrically it’s relatable and has been structured incredibly well with a smooth melody that will have you grooving along in the hook. This is one of the best songs of the week and confirm that Lauv really is worth getting excited over.
