SINGLE REVIEW: Rika – No Need
At only 17 years old London based singer/songwriter RIKA has delivered a very memorable debut single. “No Need” is the infectious “no hate” pop track that we need in the world right now. Starting with basic keys, finger clicks and a cool pop beat the song launches into a massive chorus that amplifies the roots put into place. She exclaims during the hook “There’s no need to be unkind” and sassily puts the haters into their place “You got your own life, I’ve got my own life. Get on with your life and I’ll get on with mine”. The production and vocal production is very similar to the likes of Hailee Steinfeld and offers a bit more of a traditional pop sounding version of Dua Lipa. With a radiating message of positivity and saying no to hate in your life it really is a song we should be endorsing. It’s playful pop, ridiculously catchy and even has a cool music video to go along with it. It’s also going to receive some comparisons to Maggie Lindemann’s x Cheat Codes “Pretty Girl” because of the similar vocal production but the difference with Rika’s song is that it’s not annoying. The chorus will be stuck in your head after a first listen and you will be ready to press replay almost instantly.
