Next week Demi Lovato will release her sixth studio album “Tell Me You Love Me” which hears the songstress going towards an increasingly mature sound. All the promotional singles leading up to this release have been strong, empowering and showcased a different side to her. However the final promotional single before the albums big release is an anti-climatic letdown. The playful “Sexy Dirty Love” delivers a groovy hook full of shiny synths and funky guitar riffs but that’s about it. The rest of the song is a bit gimmicky and cliche. It feels like a step backwards to her previous albums where her creative control was noticeably missing. “You got me so high. Pull me closer into you and watch our bodies intertwine. I feel so alive. You know what I’m thinking of, got me dreamin’ ’bout that sexy dirty love”. She showcases a sexier and more playful side but the execution is still a bit cookie cutter. I wanted this to be fiery moment of passion but instead it’s half there and half scared to fully commit.
