SINGLE REVIEW: Alex Lahey – I Haven’t Been Taking Care Of Myself

“I Haven’t Been Taking Care Of Myself” is one of the most important songs out this week. The pop rock moment sees Alex Lahey confessing that she hasn’t been okay and that it’s alright to feel like that. The self discovery song plays on the idea that if you don’t feel good about yourself that you are going to get off on the wrong foot with someone else. So it’s important to take care of yourself and realise if you are feeling down. This has been a crowd favourite in her live set for a little while and that doesn’t really come as much of a surprise. With a steady drum beat and a pulsating guitar riff the verses deliver a sound that we’ve become accustomed to with Lahey. The hook then captivates you with its bashing drums and shredding guitars with brutally honest lyrics that will get stuck in your head instantly. This is one of the strongest tracks on her forthcoming debut album and with it’s very important message it’s an anthem that the world really needs right now.
