SINGLE REVIEW: Confidence Man – Better Sit Down Boy
Brisbane indie-pop four piece Confidence Man is the name on everyone’s lips at the moment. From questioning who this mysterious band are to raving about their live shows they are quickly becoming one of Australia’s hottest new acts. They wowed crowds at Glastonbury and The Great Escape in the UK and completely floored everyone at their Splendour In The Grass and BIGSOUND sets in Australia. Their new single “Better Sit Down Boy” continues the crazy indie-pop and dance fusion that “Boyfriend (Repeat)” cemented but aims towards a more mainstream effect. The retro pop beat is reminiscent of early The Tings Tings mashed with the later craziness of the Scissor Sisters. The sound is colourful and experiments with multiple different layers to give you that fresh uniqueness you were hoping for. There really isn’t anything like it out at the moment. it draws on nostalgic elements that will make you instantly love it along wth its funky hook. It’s definitely the most radio ready of their material and will unsurprisingly become a favourite in their energetic live show.
