SINGLE REVIEW: Zayn feat. Sia – Dusk Till Dawn

zayn

Zayn was the first of the One Direction members to go solo and whilst the others are only just releasing their debut records now he is already onto preparing for album number two. “Dusk Till Dawn” is the first taste of what new Zayn music will sound like and sees him going towards a more pop directed sound compared to his RNB injected debut. Teaming up with Sia this cinematic and mature track projects a grand and theatrical sound. It may not have you wanting to swing from a chandelier or speak in pillowtalk but this song will have you wanting to belt the chorus out and confess your love to someone. The dramatic track tells the story of a couple who would do anything to stay together. The storyline has a very Bonnie & Clyde feel to it and I can’t help but LOVE it. “But you’ll never be alone, I’ll be with you from dusk till dawn, I’ll be with you from dusk till dawn. Baby, I am right here. I’ll hold you when things go wrong”. The chorus has a typical Sia sound to it with her classic harmonies and her structured melodies but her and Zayn’s intertwining vocals break up what would normally become a predictable Sia ballad. Both of their vocals have similar strengths so hearing both of them hit such powerful high notes was quite exciting. It stands out compared to anything his fellow ex-band mates are releasing and is one of the strongest and most memorable ballads out right now (Sorry Sam Smith).
