SINGLE REVIEW: Angus And Julia Stone – Chateau

Angus-Julia-Stone-Chateau-CDQ-500x500

With the release of their fourth studio album only a couple of weeks away Angus And Julia Stone have returned with a mesmerising new single. “Chateau” is the perfect follow up to “Snow” as it continues their dreamy alternative-pop sound as well as providing a radio and festival ready hook. Beginning with only a strumming guitar and Angus’ airy vocals, a pulsating drum beat then introduces a summery morning sound that is topped by a groovy guitar riff. Julia floats onto the song halfway through for a brief solo before allowing Angus to take the lead again. She just harmonises with him for the rest of the track and it sounds natural and unfiltered. Their harmonies are strong with a clean alternative-pop production that sounds pure and honest. They look at the intense emotion of doing anything for that one person. “We can go to the Chateau Marmont and dance in the hotel room. We can go to the Chateau Marmont and dance, we got nothing to lose. I don’t mind if you wanna go anywhere, I’ll take you there”. It’s a really beautiful and simple song that radiates a euphoric positivity which will have you begging for summer to come around quickly so you can frolic in a field to this track.
