New Zealand electronic duo SACHI are responsible for the absolute bops “Shelter” and “No More” and the Auckland based producers are ready to give you another one to add to the collection. “Ride” sees them teaming up with alternative pop newcomer Thomston and has them perfectly fusing their two sounds together for what will become a future hit. The song begins with a hypnotising strumming of what sounds like a harp that then launches into a dark synth beat that drives the verses. Thomston’s smooth vocals are introduced and instantly provides an overwhelming calmness of reassurance while he questions if the love he has is strong enough to stop a break up for happening. “Why are we in love? Because we always seem at odds these days. Is this growing up or are we just growing apart these days”. The chorus introduces a subtle drum beat that adds a new texture before giving you the perfect moody beat breakdown. Between Thomston’s vocals and SACHI’s production the contrast of emotions and vulnerability is impressive while still maintaining an electronic vibe that the clubs will eat up. The chorus is radio gold and if it doesn’t get picked up soon by mainstream radio then we will be robbed of yet another (nearly) homegrown hit. This song will instantly get stuck in your head and very quickly will become a playlist favourite.
