SINGLE REVIEW: Marshmello feat. Khalid – Silence

marshmello

Marshmello is one of EDM’s hottest newcomers and is a name you’re probably hearing cross into the mainstream music world more and more frequently. While Khalid has recently cemented himself as one of the future voices of pop after his debut album “American Teen” went absolutely viral and has received massive praise. So put these two newcomers together and they are going to be unstoppable right? Correct. “Silence” is an EDM meets pop track which takes the best elements from both of their genres and creates an thought evoking smash. On this track Khalid reflects on why he’s never had a proper relationship and the inner demons that surface when he questions it. “My whole life, I’ve felt like a burden. I think too much, and I hate it. I’m so used to being in the wrong, I’m tired of caring. Loving never gave me a home, so I’ll sit here in the silence”. It’s an emotional track that slightly hides in the beat drop which gives the song a different element of shadowing. The production is dark, mysterious and has a strong enough beat drop that it makes a decent impact. This song will help Marshmello further cross into the pop realm and will see him quickly becoming the new hottest collaborator behind the likes of Martin Garrix and Zedd.
