SINGLE REVIEW: Kelsea Ballerini – Unapologetically

unapologetically

Kelsea Ballerini is one of country music’s best kept secrets at the moment. Her debut album “The First Time” was a wholesome blend of country pop that introduced listeners to an honest and heartfelt collection of songs. Her sophomore studio album “Unapologetically” is scheduled for release on November 3 and will see the songstress mature and head towards to that arena status she deserves. She receives a lot of comparisons calling her “the new Taylor Swift” but in all honestly she’s not. She’s Kelsea Ballerini. To coincide with the announcement of her new album she has dropped a promotional single of the same name. “Unapologetically” is a beautiful country-pop ballad that sees her confessing her love and her care factor for how hard and fast it’s happening. it’s honest and still holds onto the wholesome sound that she cemented on her debut but shows a growth in not just her vocals and songwriting but in her production as well. The pop influence is quite heavy and almost drains out the country roots which are holding on for dear life. “And I’m unapologetically in love and that’s unapologetically enough. No matter where it takes me even if it breaks me. I’m unapologetically all in from the second that I started falling and it don’t even faze me when they call me crazy” . But if “Unapologetically” and “Legends” is anything to go by then Ballerini’s sophomore record is going to need a place in your favourite albums of the year lists. However for the next single we do need something that channels the attitude and vibes of “XO” and “Love Me Like You Mean It”.
