Camila Cabello is currently touring America alongside Bruno Mars to promote the release of her highly anticipated debut album “The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving”. It’s a bold support slot considering that she has only released two songs and is trying to separate herself completely from the Fifth Harmony fame. It’s been 3 months since we received the last promotional single so it’s about time we received another and luckily for us she’s given us two instead. Both are tropical summer bops and serve a different sound to the pure emotion we have already heard her deliver. The first single is “Havana” which is the slightly stronger single out of the two. This track looks at falling in love with the wrong person and sets the story in the capital city of her home country, Cuba. “Knew it when I met him. I loved him when I left him. Got me feelin’ like oooh-oooh-ooh, and then I had to tell him I had to go, oh na-na-na-na-na”. The production is very topical and isn’t over saturated with dance beats and allows the cuban vibe to set the mood. It’s genuinely funky and while it’s about a relationship that didn’t work out she shows a sexier side to her vocal delivery. And I mean it wouldn’t be a Camila Cabello song without a high note, so there is that too. The feature though…. Young Thug, really? Out of all the collaborations possible that was the one she chose? I am confused to say the least but it wasn’t awful so I guess that’s a plus. “Havana” is a bop so get ready to dance.
