SINGLE REVIEW: Liz Lokre – Buh Bye

IMG_4852

Canadian newcomer Liz Lokre has dropped her follow up single to her Caribbean flavoured debut “Rise Up”. For “Buh Bye” the songstress has adapted a sultry RNB sound that channels the vibe Ariana Grande perfected on her last record “Dangerous Woman”. The song opens with a distinctive gritty guitar that is levelled by airy synths and a rhythmic drum beat. The production is different and quite basic compared to current RNB-Pop trends but it works incredibly well. It’s a track that grows on you and is one that you wont want to listen to just once. Her vocals take centre stage and seduce you with her little vocal ad-libs and will have you pressing replay over and over again. The music video delivers the right amount of sassiness and sex appeal that this song needed. The choreography is quite similar to Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” which is disappointing timing because Dua’s clip has received high praise and now everything will just be compared to it. However Liz has delivered a killer “fuck boys” anthem with “Buh Bye” and that deserves praise in itself.
