SINGLE REVIEW: Jax Jones feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don – Instruction

Jax Jones had massive success with “You Don’t Know Me” and he wants to try recreate that with his new single. “Instruction” sees him teaming up with Demi Lovato for one of the most ridiculous song out right now and I’m unsure just how well it is going to be received. It’s catchy in the most absurd way possible and will have you wanting to dance like no one’s watching, or with everyone watching. The production is vibrant, groovy and reminds me of a Zumba song (not entirely a compliment) with the heavy drums. Even the lyrics are a bit like a Zumba class giving you absurd instructions which make you question why you’re agreeing to do it. “Wind to the left, sway to the right, drop it down low and take it back high. Bitch, I don’t need introduction, follow my simple instruction”. Demi Lovato’s strong suit is her vocals and this song does not do her justice at all. Her vocals are autotuned and have many different effects added to work with the Brazilian inspired dance beat. This song is really just a bit of a mess but if it comes on in a club it would be rude to not dance along so don’t judge me if you see me dropping low to it. But it’s still a mess.
