Ella Eyre’s debut album “Feline” was severely under-appreciated. There’s just something about her powerful and soulful vocals mixed with her intimate storytelling that just instantly stood out to me. Along the way she has released a couple of doozies, which I blame Rudimental and her label for but after taking some time off she’s ready to get album number 2 out into the world. First is a collaboration with Sigala which sees her going back to that rhythmic dance sound that Rudimental made famous with her. It’s a bit predictable and honestly is just her playing it safe. I hope this is not the direction she’s going to continue for her own material and is only stepping back to this sound for the collab and re-introduction purposes. Her vocals get overpowered by the beats and the over the top production and truly shine when its a bit more organic and genuine. It’s a song about unity and love which is what we do need in the world right now but i just feel like it could’ve been better done.
