SINGLE REVIEW: Olly Murs feat. Louisa Johnson – Unpredictable

OLLY

So it’s a fact that Olly Murs didn’t appreciate the review I did on his last album. He blocked me on Twitter almost instantly and honestly that is the sort of petty I aspire to be. But he has refreshed one of the songs off the last album with a guest feature and minus his beef towards me I will still fairly review him because I like to think I’m a nice human. “Unpredictable” sees him teaming up with 2015 X Factor UK winner Louisa Johnson for a *cue pun* predictable mid-tempo ballad. The Olly Murs fans will be ready to start coming for me but hear me out. This duet is quite good. His vocals are strong and harmonise well with Johnson’s making their chemistry undeniably intriguing. It’s a easy listening track that I wouldn’t turn off if I heard it playing on the radio but I’m not sure if I would go out of my way to listen to it. What I’m trying to say is that the production is basic and sounds like every song Murs has released over the past 3 years. It lacks that extra wow factor and is sadly purely lead by their strong vocals which I guess isn’t a bad thing but you also want their to be strong foundations. It is better than the original so that’s a start.  3/5 stars.
