SINGLE REVIEW: Peking Duk feat. Alunageorge – Fake Magic

Peking-Duk-AlunaGeorge-Fake-Magic-CDQ

Peking Duk have easily become Australia’s biggest dance act with a stream of sold out shows, multiple number one singles and headlining festivals across the country. They are ready to continue their reign with a funk inspired pop track featuring Alunageorge. “Fake Magic” uses the formula for most of their previous singles with a dreamy minimalistic verse that then launches into a big hook. However instead of a massive dance drop they’ve replaced it with a funky baseline that makes this song quite different to everything else in their repertoire. It works perfectly with Alunageorge’s vocals and is definitely more in line to what she usually releases than what they do. At a length of only 2:47 its way too short and you will be expecting another verse or production breakdown but it never comes. I think the verses are a bit too average and it really annoyed me because the chorus is SO good. But I guess it makes up for it.
