Carly Rae Jepsen is a real pop treasure and I don’t even need to try plead my case to you because “Emotion” and “Emotion Side B” exist and they speak for themselves as masterpieces. While we patiently wait for her fourth studio album the songstress/queen has released a new single for the movie “Leap” (also know as “Ballerina” in Australia”) and guess what? It’s a banger! “Cut To The Feeling” is THAT euphoric pop track you NEED in your life. It’s a B-Side from her third studio album “Emotion” which she famously wrote 250 songs for and to be honest I really need to hear all these songs because so far I can’t fault the 26 songs we have heard. The song starts off with nostalgic 80’s synths and hand claps that then see pulsing drums introduced creating an euphoric explosion during the chorus. Her vocals experiment with the soothing pure pop harmonies you’re familiar with and sees her hitting some great high notes that will be hilarious to attempt during a road-trip. The lyrics are super cute and sees her dreaming about that high when you fall in love with someone. “I wanna cut through the clouds, break the ceiling. I wanna dance on the roof, you and me alone”. Overall it’s just a pure pop track that will have you catching all the feels and dancing like no one is watching.
