SINGLE REVIEW: Tove Styrke – Say My Name

Swedish songstress Tove Styrke released one of my favourite indie-pop albums of 2015. The synth-pop diversity and lyrical honesty on “Kiddo” was impressive and was sadly under-appreciated alongside the likes of pop giants Adele and Justin Bieber. However two years on and we finally have new music and she’s prepared to get justice. “Say My Name” is the first taste of her forthcoming third studio record and it’s a true BOP. Like seriously, this song is ridiculously catchy, fun, gimmicky (in the right ways) and will be instantly stuck in your head. The song has a cool DIY feel with a groovy guitar riff that drives the song’s beat with slick synths layered on top. This song proves that she still knows how to write a killer hook with it becoming the ultimate singalong track for a roadtrip. “Just say my name (say my name). Wear it out like a sweater that you love cause I can’t get enough when you say my name”. You will find yourself repeating the chorus over and over again in your head and just needing to push replay. This is a very good comeback and a very promising lead single. #JusticeForTove
