SINGLE REVIEW: Charlie Puth – Attention

I’ve always found Charlie Puth to be a bit overrated. Like that “Marvin Gaye” song wasn’t THAT good but I will give him credit where it’s deserved because “We Don’t Talk Anymore” was a GREAT track. After his debut album received mediocre reviews and chart attention he has gone back into the recording studio to work on his forthcoming sophomore release and has just premiered the lead single. “Attention” does exactly what it sets out to do and that is to grab your attention (total pun intended). The slick groove injected pop track sees him tackling a very polished and seductive sound that steps away from the slightly cringe worthy sound he was releasing prior. Her croons about a girl who is playing with his emotions and only acts different when he no longer gives her attention. “You just want attention, you don’t want my heart. Maybe you just hate the thought of me with someone new. Yeah, you just want attention”. The sound is very similar to Bruno Mars “That’s What I Like” and will see radio adding it almost instantly and praising him for its bolder sound.
