SINGLE REVIEW: DNCE feat. Nicki Minaj – Kissing Strangers

Their debut album has only been out 5 months and DNCE are already giving us new music with the first single from their forthcoming sophomore album. However don’t get too excited because ‘Kissing Strangers” is an anti-climatic track that follows the same structure and production techniques of “Cake By The Ocean. Like, I mean it is a catchy track but the whole time I’m like we’ve pretty much already heard this song before. The grunts, “Na na na na na’s” and gimmicky hook are pretty much a direct replica but instead have a different key change. They still offer their unique cheeky charm with the lyrics which make you want to go and kiss some strangers. The addition of Nicki Minaj’s rap brings a different element to the track and is the standout moment even though its only 24 for seconds. Radio will probably love this song and give it a good spin but it really isn’t anything groundbreaking. Sorry bout it.
