SINGLE REVIEW: Verite – When You’re Gone

VÉRITÉ-When-Youre-Gone

Verite has quickly become one of my favourite newcomers since her incredible cover of The 1975’s “Somebody Else”. Her debut album “Somewhere In Between” is slated for release in June and I’m beyond excited. “When You’re Gone” is the offical second single from the record and it delivers a big moody pop moment. It gives you serious Halsey vibes with the production and vocal delivery but thats not a bad thing. With every listen it grows on you and the lyrics will begin to haunt you with the heartbreaking story of a dying relationship where she feels empty with them and feels empty without them. “Cause what you lost (what you lost), I don’t wanna be here anymore (anymore). There’s no difference here from when you’re gone (when you’re gone). I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here”. Her unique storytelling is what has intrigued me from the start and she continues to keep impressing and something tells me this debut album will be very very good. If you like mood and reflective pop tracks then this one is for you.
