SINGLE REVIEW: Iggy Azalea – Can’t Lose

2016 just wasn’t Iggy’s year. After bombing as a judge on the Australian version of The X Factor on top of the miserably received singles “Azillion” and “Team” it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. She’s decided to start from scratch in 2017 with a new hype single from her “highly anticipated” sophomore studio album “Digital Distortion”. But if “Cant Lose” is anything to go by then maybe we should hope this album never sees the light of day. Don’t get me wrong I was a MASSIVE fan of Iggy’s mixtapes, her EP and even her debut album but she visibly started to lose herself as an artist when she brought out “Reclassified” and became an unlikeable has been. I know that is a massive call but it had to be said. This hype track that she’s released for Def Jam’s “Direct Deposit” mixtape sees her returning to her roots sonically but her delivery is flat and forgettable. It sounds like every rap track on rotation and not even the feature from Lil Uzi Vert could save it (whoever that may be). Her raps on this track are annoying and don’t have any decent flow to them. I hope her lead single is a better attempt to revive her career cause this song isn’t helping at all.
