In 2016 Fickle Friends quickly become one of my favourite new bands with their infectiously catchy tunes “Cry Baby” and “Brooklyn”. In 2017 the band are set to release their debut album and I couldn’t be more excited. And to tie us over while we wait for an offical date announcement they have released a new single that will have you dancing harder than before.
“Hello Hello” is a vibey indie-pop track that sees the band going towards a more pop direct sound. Their previous singles have had a heavy baseline and this track introduces a a slightly more synthesiser influence. However a groovy baseline makes an appearance in the hook which gives you that “classic” Fickle Friends sound that you have come accustomed to. Nat’s vocals begin with a distortion effect before exploding in the chorus and I’m still unsure if the distortion was the best decision for this track. However it is undoubtedly a catchy track that grows on you with each listen and they just keep cementing the fact that they are truly one of the best new bands you need to discover.
