SINGLE REVIEW: POWERS – Heavy
POWERS are a duo who are really under-appreciated. Their unique style of alt-pop has been overshadowed by DNCE who have hit mainstream with a sound that this duo have been doing for a couple of years. “Heavy” is the bands new single before they hit the road with Bridgit Mendler next month and it oozes a slick 90’s influenced sound. Think No Doubt meets Garbage meets 2017. It’s very shiny and polished but not in a bad over produced way. it’s super catchy and will instantly have you singing and toe tapping (and maybe even dancing) along. “It’s heavy. Heavy how I want you so bad. Heavy when it hits me so fast. Heavy and it’s driving me mad that I’m never gonna give you up”. Their last single “Dance” was very bright and in your face so with this single they are showing a constant versatility and impressive growth as a band. They have some great material in their discography but “Heavy” may just be one of their strongest. Now isn’t that ironic.
