SINGLE REVIEW: Snakehips feat. MO – Don’t Leave
So we may only be in the first week of 2017 but I think Snakehips and MO have just released a track that will be featured in my Top 10 songs of the year. I know it’s a big call but this is a BIG song. “Don’t Leave” is a perfect collision of heartbreak, flawless vocals and killer production. This RNB tinged pop/edm track follows a similar structure to Snakehips previous single “Cruel” with Zayn. From it’s simplistic production of oozing synths during the verse before exploding in the chorus with big bass which is club ready, road trip worthy and most importantly makes it the perfect breakdown anthem. The lyrics see MO begging for a ex-lover to come back in the midst of having an emotional breakdown in where she has the realisation she can’t live without them “Don’t go, what we have here is irreplaceable. No, I won’t trade this for nothing. I may not ever get my shit together, but ain’t nobody gonna love you better”. Everything about this song is great right down to the last little gritty production breakdown in the final chorus. While it may be emotional and a super relatable track, it also creates a strange euphoric feeling that having these emotions is okay. Powerful.
