SINGLE REVIEW: Fergie – Life Goes On
“Milf $” wasn’t the big comeback Fergie was expecting but it broke video records and virally became one of the most talked about songs of the year so I guess that counts towards something, right? Returning to the studio to re-strategise her forthcoming sophomore studio album she has released a softer and more pop influenced track to target radio. “Life Goes On” follows the trend of some of her biggest hits like “Glamorous” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. Stripping it back to a pop beat and more natural vocals, she gives you a big chorus and some honest lyrics. “Life goes on with or without you, It’s up to you what you’re gonna do. You could go or you could stay, who cares anyway?”. Spitting some real Fergie attitude she gives you a rap in the third verse which you’ve been patiently waiting for a long time. This whole sound is the Fergie I’ve missed and wanted over this whole “re-image” and comeback period. It’s fresh while still holding onto her roots and finally actually has radio potential. But I have to question, is the hype gone? Does anyone actually care anymore that she’s still making music or am I the only one?
