The lead up to One Republic’s fourth studio album has been a long road but they’ve just confirmed an October 7th release date and with the previous releases of lead single and total banger “Wherever I Go” and the lacklustre and totally forgettable “Kids” this album really could go either way. Everyone knows Ryan Tedder is a lyrical genius and he never disappoints on that front but I feel like production wise it’s very easy for him to play safe. They’ve just dropped the third single “Future Looks Good” and while it’s not as experimental as “Wherever I Go” they serve Coldplay vibes and a stadium ready pop track. It’s one of those euphoric tracks that are lyrically relatable and will have you wanting to push replay almost instantaneously. “I swear that you are, you are the future and the future looks good”. With each listen it will grow on you, and like the rest of their records sometimes you just need time to soak it all in because while there are infectious beats and big hooks it’s really all about the lyrics.
