SINGLE REVIEW: Zedd feat Kesha – True Colors
Following her coveted surprise return performance at Coachella with Zedd the buzz around Kesha is electric, supportive and everyone seems thirsty for new material. While she is still in a legal battle with her old mentor Dr Luke we may have to wait a little longer for those future hits but for now a studio version of Zedd’s track True Colors that she performed alongside him is finally here. The new version doesn’t stray too far from the original with the same production and vocal techniques. However Kesha’s vocals are more defined and seem to take ownership and embody the song so much more than the original, making it feel intimate and emotionally honest. Zedd allowed Kesha to alter the lyrics in the third verse to “I’ve escaped my capture and I have no master” and that in its own is a powerful statement. This song is a triumphant return for Kesha in a time that we can just let the music and the emotion speak for itself. One thing that shouldn’t be overlooked here is the powerhouse and talented vocalist she is because this delivery will send goosebumps down your spine.
