SINGLE REVIEW: Gwen Stefani – Make Me Like You
Gwen Stefani’s solo career has had a wobbly comeback with “Baby Don’t Lie” and “Spark The Fire” flopping spectacularly on the charts. But last year she had some success with the ever so emotional “Used To Love You” which broke your heart every time you heard it or saw her struggle to keep a strong face while performing it live. With the release of her third studio album “This Is What The Truth Feels Like” on March 18 she has premiered her new single and let’s just say she’s ready to mend your hearts back together. “Make Me Like You” is a sticky but sweet disco-pop track that’s about falling in love again and being so unsure about having these feelings after having your heart broken. “Why’d you have to go and make me like you? Yeah this is a feeling I’m not used to. Why’d you have to go and make me like you? I’m so mad at you cause now you got me missing you”. It’s a confessional about falling for Blake Shelton and the love-struck couple exchanged tweets about the song yesterday with the songstress tweeting “I hope you like the song” with a wink face emoji. If that’s not adorable then I don’t know what is. With an infectious hook and a groovy beat your feet will start moving and your body will start dancing and you won’t even be able to deny that this song is a TUNE. It has a bit of a throwback to old Gwen with a super pop Kylie Minogue vibe thrown in the mix to catch you off guard. This is the type of song the world was waiting for from Gwen Stefani, it’s playful, catchy and sickingly cute but I’m a bit worried that she’s lost her impact because this song has already flown under the radar.
