SINGLE REVIEW: Jess Kent – Get Down

jess kent

Infected with a ridiculously catchy hook that will linger on your mind for hours there is only one name that you won’t be able to stop thinking about. Jess Kent. The Sydney based songstress dropped one of the most infectious tracks of 2015 and I may be a bit late to the party but this song was worth talking about. “Get Down” will have you intrigued from the opening hip-hop and reggae beats before launching into a pop fueled hook that will explode any dancefloor. “Sitting, watching, waiting, wishing I tell you one thing, you never knew it. At the back at the bus there is so much to give, so dream big. And when they’re screaming get out, get out. All I wanna hear is get down, get down”. The song is a social commentary of growing up in suburban Adelaide and has been curated well to allow free-flowing spitting verses that allow her to showcase her rapping potential. It’s very reminiscent to early Lily Allen and will have you intrigued and wanting to hear more from this future pop goddess.
